Content strategy maturity framework
How advanced is your university’s approach to the planning, production, distribution and maintenance of content?
Do you know what’s working and not working for you? Do you wish it was all just a bit more joined up? Are you worried about the risk of out-dated content and consumer protection rulings?
A good starting point is a content strategy maturity review and report.
Ten pillars framework
We’ve developed the ten pillars of content strategy to help you assess your university’s current approach to content strategy and management. It will help you identify areas for improvement, and outline tangible work packages for you to make strides forward.
The ten pillars include:
Strategy and vision
Leadership
Audience insights
Outputs, structures and efficiencies
Assessment and evaluation
Collaboration and interdisciplinary working
Risk-tolerance and creativity
Resource
Skills and know-how
Training and professional development

How to use the ten pillars
Each pillar is described on a card that outlines a level of maturity. For example, on “collaboration”, you might consider if you are:
Low maturity - perhaps working in silos, and departmentally focused.
Medium maturity - some collaboration and shared resources.
High maturity - clear shared focus, and engaged stakeholders.
You can use them as a self-reflection tool within your university or organisation. But try to take a big step back as you do so, as it’s not always easy to be objective from the inside.
If you’re starting to see the benefits, why not bring us in to conduct a content strategy maturity review for you? We’ll give you solid recommendations, as well as objective insights into how you compare to the rest of the sector.
