Jonny McAreavey

User Researcher

Jonny is a User Researcher at Pickle Jar Communications.

He works alongside the research team to devise innovative solutions and research approaches to generate insight into what audiences want and how to achieve it.

With several years’ experience as a data analyst and thousands of hours of market research and telecoms industry work under his belt, Jonny has lots of experience designing and conducting research projects and working closely with a wide variety of audience bases.

He has also worked extensively in the third sector for organisations focusing on the environment, mental health, the arts, teaching English, and charities seeking to help migrants, the homeless, asylum seekers and refugees.

A self-described analytical creative, Jonny would say his best skill is coming up with creative technical solutions to problems. He has a particular leaning for anything to do with data analysis, data visualization or finding the software or organisational tool that’s just right for the job (he’s a total nerd, in other words).

Having done this extensively at Mind, whilst helping to run the NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme, he is now looking to bring his experience and skills to the communications and UX industries.

In his spare time, he likes to exercise in VR, come up with ideas for apps that will probably never get made and, very occasionally, moonlights as a musician alongside friends.
