Stakeholder engagement for the Further Education and Skills sector, Becta

The challenge:

Becta, a non-departmental public body, was tasked with enhancing technology use across the UK's education sector, particularly focusing on Further Education and Skills. They needed to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, from FE colleges to technology vendors and government officials, to promote better integration of technology.

Their challenge was to develop strategies that would resonate across these varied groups and improve the effectiveness of technology in education.

What we delivered:

Over a two year period, we supported Becta in transforming their stakeholder engagement and communications strategies.

Key initiatives included:

  • Implementing an audience-centered approach to review and enhance communications, identifying what was and wasn’t working.

  • Developing a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan tailored for the FE and Skills sector.

  • Assisting project leads in creating targeted communication plans for their specific initiatives.

  • Producing a special education supplement for The Guardian and orchestrating events with high-profile partners like Google and the Ministry of Defence.

  • Overhauling Becta’s email and internal communications strategies and establishing impactful social media presences, significantly improving direct engagement with key influencers, including ministers.
